Vancouver Economic Commission

Our Purpose / The Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC), works to position Vancouver as a globally recognized city for innovative, creative, and sustainable business. In September 2015 it hosted the second annual Vancouver StartupCity, a program designed to support Vancouver’s startup ecosystem. Brix was engaged to spread the word about the week-long event.

Our Approach / Brix collaborated with the VEC, its partners, and participating startups, to create localized pitches that would connect with business and tech media outlets in Vancouver and across Canada.

Our Impact / Vancouver StartupCity received coverage from both a local and national perspective. National coverage included BetaKit, Techvibes, The National Observer and The Huffington Post Canada. Local feature coverage included Vancity Buzz, Vancouver Magazine, Breakfast Television,CKNW, a multi-part blog series in Vancouver is Awesome and more resulted in a reach of over 2,857,506 and 17 media hits in a three week period.
