Vancouver Sun – Update: Jon Bon Jovi is coming to Stanley Park
The promoters of a summer concert in Stanley Park aren’t ready to reveal which “rock legend” will headline their show — but the photo they’re using in their advertising campaign is Jon Bon Jovi.
Although Paper Rain Performances play coy in online ads for An Urban Forest Concert: An Evening With A Rock Legend by not naming the headliner for the Aug. 22 show at Brockton Field, the Vancouver Sun has learned that it will be Jon Bon Jovi.
Meanwhile, Runaway Tours, a New York-based Bon Jovi-themed travel agency, is already selling “Jon Bon Jovi in Vancouver” packages.
For $1,995 US per person, fans of the Jersey rocker get a concert ticket and two nights at the Westin Bayshore hotel. They also receive invitations to a pre-show Q&A and photo-op with Bon Jovi, and will be welcomed aboard a party cruise (probably not with Bon Jovi).
Despite the evidence, Paper Rain Performances won’t reveal the “legend’s” identity until a press conference tomorrow morning (10:15 a.m. at the Hotel Georgia residences).
“We will be announcing it on Friday,” said Paper Rain president Dennis MacDonald. “I didn’t know who it was (in the photo) … I thought it was some guy in the field with a hoe.”
MacDonald promises the show will be the biggest concert ever in Stanley Park.
Why the mystery?
“This is a very big deal for the city and we wanted to have a little fun with it,” said MacDonald.
Runaway Tours indicates the concert will just be Jon Bon Jovi. His band, Bon Jovi, starts a Asian tour on Sept. 14 in Shanghai.
Here’s another photo of Jon Bon Jovi wearing the same distinctive jacket at a music festival in 2011.
